Skinny Girl in Transit follows Tiwalade “Tiwa” Awosika, a vibrant but self-conscious woman living in Lagos who decides to lose weight after her mother insists it will improve her chances of finding love and happiness. Over the course of multiple seasons, Tiwa juggles the demands of her job as a radio personality, complicated romantic relationships, and the blunt commentary of her family—especially her well-meaning but overbearing mother and her slim, confident sister Shalewa. While weight loss is the initial focus, the series evolves into a broader story about self-acceptance, friendships, ambition, and the modern Nigerian woman’s experience with love, career setbacks and social expectations. With humour and relatable characters, the show explores both light-hearted moments and deeper reflections on confidence and identity against the backdrop of Lagos life.
