Directed by Fatimah Binta Gimsay, Laraba & Balarabe is an intimate Nigerian drama following two ex-lovers in Lagos whose relationship is marked by cycles of manipulation and emotional avoidance. The story unfolds as Balarabe abruptly returns after a six-month disappearance, forcing Laraba to confront unresolved trauma and gaslighting while she struggles to find closure. Ultimately, the film explores the fragility of modern love and the persistent effort of young Northern Nigerians to maintain their cultural identity within a sprawling, indifferent city.
